Rob says in his Form Analysis:
The big query is the first 2yo’s of this season that are taking on the older horses in SERGEANT LOU (1) and MY BUCKS NIGHT (2). Both pacers are well bred and are showing good ability at the trials, providing they can handle their first race experience expect strong showings.
1 SERGEANT LOU
BAY COLT 2YRS
NR50
SWEET LOU USA - BELLAS DELIGHT (BETTORS DELIGHT USA)
YELLOW & BLACK QUARTERS, BLACK & WHITE HOOPED SLEEVES

They ran a credible second with the 2yo and better still Rob and gang won R8 with the half sister Le Belle Bijoux at the attractive odds of $18

Some amazing quarters coming out of WA for the 2yos lately.
56.8 last half for a filly on Monday at Pinjarra, 56.5 the week before.
Yes Katie
“I think she’s something special, she’s pretty good. She came home in 54.8 and it was only her second start in a race. I think she’s really, really good.”

A good start for sire Control The Moment (although I am not sure what has become of him - looking at his Fertility, in 3 seasons he had 20 foals and 20 miss)
and here is the other one (a Downbytheseaside)

10 first starters will be going around at Newcastle on Friday night
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#NRC10022310
Down to 8 starters now but we do have
Lux Aeterna a full sis to Captain Crusader and a ¾ sis to Crunch Time
Dashing only the 2nd foal of Millionaire Frith
It is interesting to note that the dams of No.'s 1 & 5 are full sisters
We have got 4 newbies in R1 at Kilmore tonight
Anne has the beautifully bred Chart Topper
Craig Rail mentions it won a trial
I have been following the 2yo trials and don't remember it - does anybody know where this trial was/

All of Nathan’s trialled at Shep mid last month.
Thanks John, I found it - I had not watched it as it says Combined and has horses rated as 35 - this is incorrect as 2yo's are now NR 50
I know it is not a metro meet but I cannot remember seeing too many 2yo and older races at Melton in the past
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#MXC23022305
With experience but on the same rating as the 2yo's is generally going to be a big advantage for the 3yos
RBD for the 2yo and up maiden at Melton. Usually they are drawn by age. I like the RBD
Due to the decline in foal numbers over the years they now don't have enough 2yo's to make up a race ! Expect to see it more often.
Would also think there is less pressure on getting 2yos to race in Feb compared to previously as well so would have an impact on numbers at the races. Now have 3 months tacked on to the end of the season with many features later in the year.
In R1 at Maryborough tomorrow Lochinvar Camaro a ½ bro to Honolua Bay makes his debut for the Tubbs stable
but Greg Sugars has chosen to drive their other debutante Paradigm a Lazarus from a ½ sis to Safari

edit: I just noticed that the stable has 4 of the 6 starters
Two $100k APG races for the fillies and for the colts at Gloucester Park tonight
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#GPM03032303
Missed it but see the Colts declared a No Race (R6)
5 of the 10 runners in the Sapling Stakes at Menangle are unbeaten ;)

Crikey! 2yo's going 1.52.8 in the first week of March - at only their 2nd start
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#PCM04032305
Only two years ago it would have been the 8th month of the season. And the winner is still an October foal.
But 2yo's did not race for the first couple of months.
Vic's first 2yo race was generally at the end of the 4th month at Maryborough
Maybe I should have just highlighted a 2yo rating 1.52.8 at his 2nd start
Captain Ravishing's ½ bro 2yo Ravishing Sloy makes his debut in R4 at Menangle today
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#PCC07032311
Obviously with an eye to the Crown and Tiara in a couple of weeks time, we have 20 2yo's going around at Bathurst tonight
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...s/?mc=BH080323
Is that Lazarus's first winner?
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#BHC08032311
First Australasian winner. From the family of Kate's First and Christian Cullen.
We have a field of first starters (5) in the 2yo Trot at Bendigo tonight/afternoon - R1 is at 4.30 (it is a 12 race program)

Somebody remind me what happened with Lazarus
Weren't HRNSW standing him
But now he is at Nevele R in NZ?
The NSWHRC paid a fortune of its members money to buy the Southern Hemisphere breeding rights and the horse stood at Yirrabee Stud for its first two seasons. For some reason, it fired blanks which resulted in only 75 Australian foals. NZ breeders fared even worse with only 19 2yos resulting from 75 matings. Only 8 mares were bred to him the following season as word spread quickly that something was seriously amiss.
NSWHRC, desperate to cut its losses and save some face, bundled the horse off to a reluctant Alabar. Alabar was smart enough to stand the horse in NZ's more moderate climate where he covered 108 mares for 54 live foals (50% fertility) and covered 124 in the just completed season.
Alabar has improved Lazarus' fertility rate from totally uncommercial to poor or borderline commercial.
Nobody will be surprised that Lazarus Sires quality winners. The question remains would you chace your money to breed to him with the knowledge you have only a coin toss chance of getting a live foal?
The $100k 2yo C&G APG Final tomorrow night at GP

No wonder SA is in dire straits
A 2yo race at GD on Saturday night for $3k
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#GDC11032309
The crazy thing about it is that this is the second of 3 heats, this one has attracted 5 starters - 2 who went around in last weeks heat of only 4 starters, even with one heat to be held next week, probably all are going to get a start in the final if they want it. These tiny fields will not attract much punting - a preliminary/warm up followed by the Kindergarten Stakes may have been the go (easy in hindsight, I know)
ps Just Callme Torque is odds on fav for the second week in a row
It is a huge gamble that Mel Mara will make a sire (IMO) but we will get our first look tonight as has his first ever starter (in Oz at least) goes around in the above race
The only millionaire of Lis Mara, he has served a dozen plus mares for 3yrs now
When Star Man won last week's heat, that was Major Secret's first winner (after having only 1 starter from his first crop)
Have a look at last week's heat and see how many time the $1.18 favourite galloped
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#GDC06032301
Do you want to take the $1.12 about him this week?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL He looked like the ultimate professional winning at $1.50
R1 at Yarra Valley today a combined 2yo & 3yo Maiden - except no 2yo connections were interested
6 heats of the Bathurst Gold Tiara have been run and won tonight
From VIC the Stewart and Miles stables were fairly busy with both winning a heat
