From the APG sales in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane in 2016, 450 yearlings were in the sales, 364 horses were sold, the rest passed in, withdrawn, or transferred. (I am not including the PI lots as I do not have any info on them).
On Friday night 21 2yo's will race in the 1st lot of heats in Melbourne at Melton, 3 heats with 7 in each heat.
Good luck.
1.53.8 for 2yo's at Melton
We still haven't got access to class records (calling Cody) but that has to be close

Nice to see Stefsbest win. http://www.harness.org.au/news-artic...?news_id=33175
As per post 2, it shows how hard it is just to get a horse to the races. So much money goes down the drain or should I say down the owners drain. Even allowing for a quite a few of those maturing slowly and then qualifying as 3 y/o the percentage of qualifiers would have to be pretty low. When you crunch the numbers it is scary. Even when you get there you have to beat 2 y/o's that are running 1:53 and change. Good luck to those who have a horse in the heats and congrats to those that make the finals.
Good to see a couple of the Sportswriters young'uns coming through as well.
21 2yo's go around at Menangle on Tuesday & 9 2yo's go around at AP the same day.
Good luck.

3 Menangle heats run & won. I am surprised at the starting prices of M & B Purdons horses.
Sicario only qualified two weeks ago, won his first start at Invercargill 9 days ago and runs a 26.6 last quarter after sitting parked today. Untouched. I guess the wide draw and lack of experience scared off a few though he was mightily impressive his fist start. Don't think punters will get any luxury prices about him next time. $120,000 yearling, looks like a short payback period!
Yep Trev, I could only marvel at how STRONG he looked.
Colt Thirty One won the Qld heat. 50 colts/geldings competed in 7 heats , 3 at Melton, 3 at Menangle & 1 at AP.
30 Fillíes go around at Melton Thursday night in 4 heats.

Colt Thirty One Claims APG Heat
16 fillies go around at Menangle Tuesday in 2 heats. 8 fillies go around at AP also on Tuesday.
Good luck.
Don't know about his STRENGTH but he surely did get a wriggle-on at the top of the straight once his ear plugs where pulled.
I think the point that should be remembered here is the paucity of 2 year-old racing in NZ this season. Their race scheduling is, well, ridiculous. And, I believe, it is a little too easy to get carried away with the form of our more experienced youngsters in Australia. Basically, the All Stars 2 year-olds are high priced yearlings that have been starved of racing opportunities. Interesting that the horse that won the same 2yo at Invercargill last season that Sicario did a fortnight ago was also bound for Menangle and the APG heats. Unfortunately, that horse pulled up sore and sat out the rest of the year.
You can only wonder what a mess Vincent would have made of the opposition had he not gone amiss!

Molander, Stewart dominate Melton APG Fillies heats
I'll be following two of the second placed fillies. IM MONICA and MAJOR GAIT http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-re...X130417&ms=vic
Just like Geoff Simpson at Bathurst, would be a fantastic result for many reasons if IM MONICA got the gold. Go Eddie Tappe!!!

Thursday's winning fillies bloodlines
The horse that ran 3rd in the 1st heat at Melton is in the 1st heat at Menangle on Tuesday.(OUR CHATEAU LAFITE).
Fiore Stride, Smolda's little sister, upset the Purdon's Just Makemine Diamonds in the first of the 2yo fillies heats
She paid about $30 NSW and over $40 VIC

All heats are now run & won. I think Lumineer 1.53.8 over 1720 trip & Sicaro 1.53.8 over 1609 were most impressive in the colts & geldings & Passions Delight 1.56 over 1720 was very impressive in her heat. Time will tell.
Semis for the colts & geldings Menangle Saturday night.
Anyone else have an opinion????
Lumineer draws 1.
Sicario draws 7.
Different heats .

Semi finals for the fillies to be run at Melton Friday.
Colts & Geldings final should be a ripper with the barrier draw done. The three top chances side by side.
Read your post wrong Trish. Just checked the fields and Sicario has got the visitors draw (9). He's unlikely to be favourite now, but there should be plenty of early (read ridiculous) speed early. Should be a great race with the NZ'r taking a sit an motoring home.

Should be a big nights racing
Lumineer

Great to read the stories behind them
Yes agree Kevin. I am cheering for Ange, her family & her horse, he looks very good.
Nicole has two in the semis.......http://www.harness.org.au/news-artic...?news_id=33354
Great stories Trish and it's good to see Sportswriter making headlines. Hope that one or more of his progeny can breakout and change Sportswriters general perception. - especially at yearling sales.
