I hope for all their sakes that he turns up Mightymo but until such time as he walks off the IRT charter you just never know. One hopes that they take more care unloading him than they did when loading Bettor Cover Lover.
The further surprise is that he wont be standing at Warwick Stud...
Hello Mightymo & VVV
I think Mightymo should be a journalist or reporter with all your scoops !
VVV with your colourful phrase I think that you would make an excellent race caller. Ever done a race call I reckon it would be a beauty.
Just be sure they unload him into the correct Empire.
Thanks for the sly insight mighty mo. Do you think they have missed the boat on getting the best mares to his court. I'm sure a lot of quality mares are being committed elsewhere as they dither on rnrh. Any clues as to price, country/state he will stand in?
No one books specific mares in at this stage. At most breeders have made bookings into a stallion.
He will be in Vic.
Not sure as to price but im guessing it will be very similar to what was initially discussed bytn the other parties looking to stand him
Thanks Mighty Mo. Seems like Gtrain also has his nose on the scent!
My congratulation to the Warick stud was premature then? money talks:)
It's official.
he is standing at Empire Stallions at $12,500
Reckon we could make a really good movie on the effort to get him here!
Blockbuster Aussie Deal For Rocknroll Hanover - EXCLUSIVE
Aug 1
In what surely must be the most significant stallion deal ever struck by the southern hemisphere, Empire Stallions has leased leading sire Rocknroll Hanover for the upcoming breeding season.
Operated by David James and Donna Egan, the Australian nursery will stand the 9-year-old Western Ideal son for a fee of AUS $12,500.
"You're talking to about the happiest guy in the world right now," said James, who has just returned to the state of Victoria from his home in Middletown, New York.
Although born in Canada, James had been an American-based bloodstock agent for many years before launching a breeding farm in Australia some 15 years ago.
"I cannot say enough about Perretti Farms and their professionalism in this arrangement," James added. "It could not have gone better and I believe it is such a significant accomplishment for the breed.
"Rocknroll Hanover has been a great sire in North America and never before has the very best from North America actually gone to either Australia or New Zealand. He's an unbelievably fertile horse and is tailor-made for the mares down there now including daughters of Bettors Delight, Art Major, Direct Scooter, Fake Left and a bunch of others. It really is remarkable so you can understand why we maybe slept two hours last night."
Rocknroll Hanover has just his third crop of foals now racing but already has sired winners of over $20 million with 40 $100,000 earners.
His arrival set for September 5 via New Zealand will give Empire Stallions a roster of 12 horses for the coming breeding season including Artistic Fella, Blissfull Hall, Four Starzzz Shark, and Tell All, among others.Rocknroll Hanover will return for the North American breeding season early next year.

Found some of pics on the internet for you Greg.
Thanks triple certainly not box headed in them but then not pony fired either will have to have a look when he get's here as in the flesh is best
Go have a look at him indeed. Good idea. From what I've been told, from looking at those pics and from what I can remember of him back when he was racing...he's a big, strong & powerfully built horse.
Btw...here's a good link to some paddock video of him. http://vimeo.com/22902893
Thank's triple his hindquarter is massive and his head suit's his body he look's a pretty heavy horse on that video but all in proportion
Thanks VVV for the video link and photos. He is an impressive horse in stature and record. Not many Artsplace mares here but there must be plenty of Artsplace granddaughters available now through the likes of Grinfromeartoear, Modern Art, Art Major etc to fill his book and give him every chance to establish a great record here as well.
Congratulations to Empire and wishing them every success for getting him here.
What was the cost of the frozen semen?? :(
Is the horse now to be classed as a Winbak stallion?
The AU dollar will continue its climb against the US and next year SBSWhere will be here. (obviously)
Hello Hello,
What will happen to the frozen semen from Rock N Roll Hanover that Nevele R Stud had. Can this be sold and if so wonder what the price would be. Also curious to see what price Western Ideal semen would be.
I knew that he was a pretty big horse Greg...but that bit of footage still surprised me.
He has got some old school about him, like the ones we used to see & especially with a bit of Tar Heel in them up close, kind of big all over, tending to the heavy side bone-structure wise and maybe a bit short-ish in the pasterns?
I'm not sure if our Southern Hemisphere mares are refined enough as a group to conistently back down his overall bulk and bone but as always it depend solely on the types of mares he gets. Perhaps the more refined they are the better? Interestingly, the opposite seems to be the case for his son, RnR Heaven. The bigger they are the better. If you didn't know they were sire and son, visually you'd be hard pressed to pick the realtionship.
I saw him race ... and then at Perretti. He's a big, powerful type ... certainly on the heavier side. He's a brute, in fact.
I have an Artsplace mare who'll go to him ... but not until next season (depending on how her racing career pans out). Looking forward to that day, though ...
Now THAT'S value (comparitively speaking).
Safely Kept was a heavier hose as well i think and has done a great job RNRH should as well
Might just be me, but most stallions I know were A LOT finer when racing. Same as the broodmares. Once they both let down, their legs and necks seem to get a lot thicker. They never look how they raced, that is for sure.
Geeze, now there's a memory Greg.
SK sure was an ugly big bugger, shocked me when I first saw him. Very docile horse to the point of appearing as though he had been jammed with Ketamine. Would you believe he was actually wandering around in Alan's backyard at Alabar...boof head, heavy legs & feet, looked like a freaking Clydesdale...but for the most part he didn't seem to leave them that way. Holmes Hanover was the same sort of horse apparently. When he was still at Nevele R I can remember Uncle Bob saying that if you were going to breed a mare to Holmes, not to go and look at him. He had that real Tar Heel rawness about him. I've quite often had the same sort of reaction to seeing a stallion in the flesh for the first time as you can do when you see a Radio announcer's face for the 1st time. The mental picture you develop and the reality can often be poles apart. Same thing happened when I first met The Big Mile. I'd heard on the grapevine of his final furlong sprints down the grassed side of the outside fence and I expected an Asafa Powell style of bloke...but instead as it turned out he was built more like former Australian Rugby prop forward & Stone Cold hard man, Stan Pilecki...only sans the moustache. ;)

Yep i saw Holmes Hanover a very heavy horse had forgot about him also some horses that had Light Brigade up close as well.
Hey triple, great shot of Stan! The comparison with Safely Kept, Holmes Hanover and Stan is spot on! Only difference is Stan scared me.
Interesting to see Art Major Not listed as booked out, he has been listed booked out for the last few years before the service fee's had even gone out. I wonder how many owners are trying to back peddle out to go to R'N'R Hanover now ?
RNRH is advertised as $12,500 Frozen Semen on the Empire web site. Is that correct ?
I was just on the website and can't find RNRH on there as yet.
I'll second that Mango
was talking to david at empire yesterday he is jumping over the moon
Go to Sires index and click on RNRH. This directs you to Empire site.
See what you mean Mo, but with all things website about the industry there is one stud advertising him who supposedly don't have him and the one stud that supposedly has him hasn't anything on their own website but have advertised him in the national racing paper and this is the first I have seen on the Industry website not uncommon for getting it balls'd up.
It is easy to be uncertain you will properly get the truth here on this site before pens put to paper to sign the deal
