Racing Queensland are seeking someone who has passed Yr.7 Maths
You know they have got their sums wrong when you see the winner of a $21k+ race gets < $8k
This is the last race for this Saturday
Dalgety says that lack of effort at the crucial moment means Krug bounced out of the race feeling good, so he joins what is a near full strength Kiwi assault on the rich Queensland carnival.
He will be on a plane on Friday morning alongside Amazing Dream and the Ray Green-trained quartet of Copy That, American Dealer, Tommy Lincoln and Captain Nemo.

I love the video work at Albion Park, as soon as the race is over, an instant close up replay of the winner crossing the line (as if the photo finish) comes up - everybody should be doing it!
Melton is good at fairly quickly showing a high quality replay of the closing stages but what I am talking about at AP is like being shown a (moving) photo finish
Have a look at the Spankem replay to see what I mean

What was with Chris Barsby's call of R4 The Ladyship Stakes. You have to call what is happening not what you think is going to happen.

Tough task for King Of Swing
It should be a great night of racing
Does anybody know what that $20,000 after Sam Is Perfection's name is about or is it a typo?
G'day Kev
Claiming Price. In the race conditions says Claimers eligible with price $20k.
Makes sense thanks Paul
I could have put this in the Great Run thread too for that is what it was
American Dealer winning the SE Derby sitting wide for a lap
One other observation from the race - did Aaron Dunn have a strategy on Bondi Lockdown - hope?

Barrier 1 for King Of Swing - $1.22 says it all
Krug is $1.70 for the Derby but from barrier 10 (likely 9) it should be a cracking race
Has the Oaks always been shorter than the Derby?
6 Group 1's in a row :D
The Blacks A Fake was a great race
King Of Swing was a sensational 3rd but was that a little help that Expensive Ego applied to Copy That?
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#APM24072101
Anthony Butt and Ricky Thurlow were warned in relation to their conduct following a verbal altercation in the birdcage area after the race.
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/ste...l/?mc=AP240721
This would no doubt be Anthony agreeing that Ricky used Expensive Ego to soften up Copy That
Great theory Kev, but this was a $250k Grand Circuit race! Expensive Ego has been widely touted as the heir to the title of Australia's best pacer and his record gives plenty of support to that viewpoint. It was a terrific race because Butt and Thurlow made it one. Would they have shown that aggression had King of Swing gone away instead of resembling a drunk negotiating the pub steps at closing time? Probably not. Too many GC races are boring affairs when the favourite finds the lead.
Butt copped a 28 day suspension for contacting KOS when he crossed him, although I am sure the favourite contributed somewhat with his behaviour. It seems he has worked out he is a bull horse and he chose to put on a show.
Anyway, the race was as good as over after 200 metres as my wife commented. Once Amazing Dream led, and Butt came looking for the lead, the mare was always going to be the one to beat. Had bookies been taking bets during the race Amazing Dream would have been long odds on once Thurlow applied pressure. History shows the mare has the wood on Copy That over 2700 and further when he is used early.
I have no idea why Butt come to have words with Thurlow and, taking into account what I have written, Thurlow appears to be the innocent party in the exchange. Four-lettered retorts aside, and Butt probably deserved one.
It was a proper race instead of a procession and, all hissy fits aside, the best mare won. Again.
Not saying Amazing was not amazing
I still see it as softening up the leader, looked like a challenge for the lead which was denied but then decided to inflict a smidge more damage which was the sealer for my view. All this after a long look around
I am not the only one with this view but it is only a view not an accusation.
There is a piece on the internet highlighting the third stable runner No.3 Spirit Of St Louis's driver strangely drifting 3 wide and letting Expensive Ego off the fence before he carts up King Of Swing
It makes for interesting viewing

Red hot but, once again, those in charge of the meeting were busy patting their Labradors while the race was on.
Egmont Park Discontinued
https://harnesslink.com/australia/eg...-discontinued/
Situated only 15 kilometres from Toowoomba City, the future of the Stud will remain as a Seymour family asset and will run initially black angus/wagyu cross cattle.
The only regret we have is that there are no members of our family who have an interest in horses to carry on the tradition.
It is hard to imagine Queensland racing without the Seymours
Bondi Lockdown not going to Queensland - to remain at spell for longer
A big night at Redcliffe tonight
Ripp first up in the Derby (be advised that R7 is at 7.41) and a quality Gp1 Gold Cup
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...22#REM25062204
You need to tune in from 6.42 to catch Amore Vita in R5, then the 2yo Final, Derby & Cup
(Right from the Get-go there is plenty of Vic interest in R1 at 4.44)
On the QLD tote Amore Vita paid $1 money back - I didn't know they could still do that - let you risk your money for zero return
Tim was a Trooper tonight but Ripp wasn't
The local winner of The Sun will be in The Rising Sun
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...22#APM02072201
What is the story on the first starter in R10 the 2yo Paleface Adios Classic ?
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...22#APM02072203
Maybe it is correct as there is no trainer or driver listed
He was only exported to Oz less than 2 weeks ago
Thoughts with the owner if this has happened
Now scratched (Ben Battle listed as trainer) so I fear the Horse Search info is correct
The Rising Sun field
Interesting to see that Ideal Dan who was second in the Tk Rec trial last week is in the field but drawn badly in 7
Here are all the fields
Going back to that incredible trial
We see the winner I Cast No Shadow ($3.10) in R6 v Spirit of St Louis ($2.30)
In the Sun consolation we see 3rd placed Bettor Isolate

PP has had a thorough look at the state of QLD harness this morning (his state)
He states that although QLD receives 12.2% of punting distribution but it now only has 8% of market share
8% is pathetic - I wonder how bad other states are going because 8% amounts to us as being irrelevant
QLD has had massive increases in prizemoney in the last 5yrs compared to VIC and NSW but unlike them it ran at a financial loss last year
QLD pays out over 80% of its revenue in prizemoney while VIC and NSW don't quite pay 50%
He says that the new demerged Tabcorp cannot meet their obligations under the 30yr deal that still has 20yrs to run
He thinks a new deal is being worked on now and that QLD harness that has not actually 'earnt' the increases to prizemoney will suffer
A fair analysis.
The Sun is up today
PP has knocked the quality of the race
But any race with Ladies In Red competing is special
To have her against the boys for the first time is extra special
For those boys to include Leap To Fame, Ripp, Beyond Delight, Ideal Dan, Better Eclipse
Makes it super special
Bondi Lockdown would have been a great addition but remember that BE has beaten him home in his last two and BD has been second behind him in two previous
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...22#APM09072201
Queensland must be doing something right for we don't even normally see a 'Harness' icon on the first line of the TAB menu, much less a specific race!
As Fred said
"We have just witnessed greatness"

I Cast No Shadow in 1 is going to make for a hot pace after his record breaking trial Or can he be crossed?
It is a fantastic card at Albion Park tomorrow night

But their admin certainly seems to be in turmoil
The Herald Sun reports that Queensland’s leading metropolitan harness racing club has refused to stand down its CEO after he was charged with one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault, the state’s Racing Minister says.
https://harnesslink.com/australia/ha...e-allegations/
A good novelty bet would be on how long it takes the APTC board to take the action it was directed to take last September and has stubbornly ignored. The racing minister has turned of the money tap and the industry faces serious consequences. Foolish.
Queensland have certainly got friends at the TAB
Harness is normally just a subset of Racing and here they are first cab off the rank
Long odds on favourites Amore Vita and Leap To Fame both beaten in the SE Oaks and Derby - yep it only 6 o'clock and they have both be run and won
The favourites came good for the last 3 races but it was a massacre for the first 7
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...s/?mc=AP160722
PP watched the Blacks A Fake draw on Sky2 today and is reporting that they forgot to shuffle the barrier cards before putting them on the table
By the time the 3rd lot of connections came up, people had twigged that if 4 was the fourth card and 2 was the second card on the table then they knew what to do and consequently selected in order 1, 3 , before Blacksadance's connections who had not twigged mucked up, then on it went 5, 6, .....
LOL
Here are all the fields for Saturday night
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...s/?mc=AP230722
The TAB only has the markets up for the first 8 races at Albion Park tomorrow night
If they are right it reminds of the days when NZ came over and won everything worth winning in Vic
The markets have Vics favourite for the first 5 races then a Queenslander, followed by NSW horses for R7&8
