Emma Stewart has just one starter in each of the 4 big ones
In fact there is a really good spread of trainers in each of the Gp1's

I should probably change the thread title as Maryborough's Redwood (& Derby) Day share the Sunday afternoon timeslot

The Derby could be a cracker
I wonder whether Brendan will be watching the Redwood or the Breeders
(I figured 2 could do it :D)
Watch the Derby tomorrow at 3.49 - it should be a good race
I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I completely forgot about SA tonight - other hobbies distracting me of late. Will have plenty of replays to watch tomorrow
Will be watching with interest re Redwood. Only learnt about it a few years ago but seems like a great concept.
In WA we only have a small population of trotters unfortunately but they are really valuable as far as adding abit of variety to many meetings. Would love to have one one.
The Locomotive was impressive last start so I will be following that.
The Redwood was a massive anti-climax - a procession for High Step
You cannot take a race seriously when 4 of the 12 starters blow the start and blow their chances.
I am all for bringing back stand start races but 2yo trotting stand start races just provides ammunition for naysayers

Only 4/12 blowing their chances? Seems like its been more successful than most years!
Why the pacing fraternity put up with this is beyond me. Clearly screwing over punting revenue potential for the pacers and thus prizemoney.
Ok the Derby was a great race !
It certainly was. The winner was tough but how about Prince Of Rock, kept coming 3 wide beaten a nose when $181.80 on the tote
I’m loving this meeting. I would love it if we only had trotters in Oz. If it’s good enough for them in Europe …
Also re The Locomotive. Is it ever a good idea early in a distance race to leave the running line to go three back on the rails. The horse went well though.
Agree re excellent race.
Winners dam won a QLD and Aust Oaks - pacing
I actually thought N Jack made the right move during the race. May have ended up one pair further back than he wanted but you would have expected the running line horses to drop out not the marker line horses to drop out. So many 2600m races first 3 or 4 home are first 3 or 4 on the fence - especially given starting prices of said horses. Drive was great, just didnt turn out as expected.
Where are the replays re HRA site?
You mean for Maryborough. I thought the problem was fixed - see link

I am not sure why it has gone back to the bad old days today
That FFA benefit for Swayzee really was the definition of a procession
10 horses all on the fence for 1900m
I actually counted them during the run, the only thing I can say is that they went super quick. Nerano was a super effort considering the time and place in the run (7th in the single file line).
The winner, needless to say, was outstanding.
