I have been avoiding thinking about how bad the Melbourne yearling sales might be this year
APG may have found a solution - although it is an indictment on the state and the state of the industry
There are only 67 lots for sale (56 pacers)
In 2024 there were 111 lots
That is 40% less horses and may create demand through scarcity for those not worrying about the state of the industry in Vic

A quick little bit of research revealed 134 pacers went through the ring in 2022
Yep - that is way less than half this year
The only professionals still in the industry probably don't know what else to do and maybe consider themselves in semi retirement. Other than that they must be rich and this is really only a hobby.
I cannot see how any young person (needing to make money) should be encouraged to remain in the industry in this state
