No Smoken Up or Sushi Sushi, Smoken Up to race in the FFA.
Hi Dallas . Was very surprised myself . Can only immagine Smoken Up isn,t a stand horse . Maybe the same with Sushi . It makes it a very moderate Hunter cup field . I suppose it , certainly , makes it a much more even contest and it will be a great race anyway . Always is .
Hi Murray
I was just expecting them to run in the Hunter Cup and was really looking foward to being trackside to watch. You are correct it is a very even field now. I know i'll get wacked on here for saying this but i'm now going for Auckland Reactor to win the Hunter Cup.
I will get slammed too but my goodness what an ordinary field, looks more like a country cup field at Bendigo.
Hi Murray, Smoken Up loves a stand, I believe he was to be handicapped 30m in Hunter and Lance thought that too much, fair enough I reckon.
Sushi was never gonna run I believe as they want to keep him out of Group 1 FFA until next year...except Ballarat.
Go Reactor!!!
Can't slam you Peteboss, you say it like it is. Thought the Reactor went super last week and only off 10m so he might get that win in OZ that Viv is so desperate for and if they do roll along that other bloody kiwi might might be the knockout horse again. Even if the talent does look a little down on past years you still have to beat the opposition that is served up on the night.
In my wildest dreams I could not imagine the connections of Sushi Sushi giving even the slightest thought whatsoever starting him in the Hunter Cup. After that very demanding run last week over a distance further than he has ever run previously and first up as well and now a standing start Group One. They would need to have their heads read :-)
Hi David
Fair call but looking at the field i think he would of been right in there with a shot, i would love to see Sushi take a sit and come off speed.
Jaccka Clive $9 .. Take that
Wow never saw the 14's. He's the obvious pick in the race. Perfectly drawn. Should step and go straight to the lead and game over
Lance obviously wasnt happy with the 30 metres handed to Smoken Up....
Highview Tommy again for me, can't see why he cant win; the 3200 metres should suit him right down to the ground and wont lack anything in horsemanship with Natalie in the cart.
If he could handle SS & SU last week ( even though they did all the work) he should handle this lot.
Do like Jaccka Clive as well.
Tommy has a 3200 metres record in NZ 7 starts 3 - 1 - 1. Distance will suit ideally, Usually perfect stand manners.
Don't fall off the chair if he attacks the lead..!!!
I hope Jaccka Clive wins for David Aiken. A great mate, fantastic horseman and a big win on his CV well earned.
I watched a few replays tonight. Heza Buzzin has been terrific his last three starts. If there's a Tommy this week, I reckon it's him. Got a few dollars of mine EW @ 50's.
Great race!!! I was on Gavin ew oh dear!!!! He will get a holiday for sure. Knocked over Lets Slash And Burn badly. Winner had the best run in the race. Well done
I respect Lance doing the right thing by Smoken but he was so awesome tonight going 1.51.1 (this is Melton not Menangle) from a poor draw and with no favours in the run - he would have gone pretty close. A big decision to settle for a $400k lesser race but if he cannot lead (esp with a 30m hcp) I think the shorter the race the better he is.
We just paying around with the replay Smokens Up race. Clocked his last mile (manually and via stop-start-stop in replay software) and he gone real, real close to breaking 1.50 !! 1.49.98 we reckon. AWESOME !!! Fantastic night. Huge crowd. Well done HRV
Dan Meilecki Take A Bow- his calls for all races were outstanding all night and the Hunter Cup description clearly demonstrates why he is the master of the craft!!!!
The racing was exciting all night and Congratz to all the big winners on the night....
He can put a tingle up your spine and he did that in spades last night especially with Smoken Up. But for accuracy, you'll do me anyday Fred.
