It will be a very interesting stallion market if the rumours are true. The list at the moment looks like this from Highest down.

Christian Cullen Chilled $ 17,500 + gst
Some bad sales results for some breeders but cannot see this dropping too much.

Western Ideal Frozen $ 17,000 + gst
Surely must change if US stallions arrive. Would like one but not at this fee.

Rock N Roll Hanover Chilled ? $ 13,000 + gst ???
Guess $$ ! but may be around the mark. Great Horse / Stallion sure to get a good book.

Mach Three Chilled $ 12,500 + gst
Must drop with market forces. More expensive downunder than in US / Canada

Artsplace Frozen $ 12,500 + gst ( Only in NZ )

Somebeachsomewhere Chilled ? $ 12,000 + gst
Superhorse - a great boost if arrives in the flesh.

Rock N Roll Heaven Chilled $ 10,000 + gst
Great horse / Pedigree. Would have liked the price to be a little lower. Will still get a good book, however plenty of other options for a little extra.

Got to love being in Aus / NZ with access to great stallions like these.

It's interesting that you lefy out both Art Major and Bettor's Delight from your leaderboard. They finished in 1st and 3rd place on the USTA 2YO sires list last year. Art Major also 2nd on the 3YO sires list.

Surely Christian Cullen won't go up as he stood the past season at $15,000 + gst and i'm not to sure how strong the rumour is but he could be on the move. And for Mach 3 that is way over's he stands over there for $7,500 and and here for $13,750 all inclusive, he would be one of a very few stallions who stand for more here than over there and i think he will struggle if he doesn't meet the market and i have him at $8,800 and know more. I'd also like to see Western Ideal drop to be level with Rocknroll heaven as i already have one but would like another one if the price was right.

It make's Rocknroll Hanover look attractive at his service fee as in the 3yr old earning's last year he was roughly 5 mil in front of Art Major and had the best 3yr old colt and filly of the year who broke multiple records.

Glad to hear that you have a Western Ideal youngster. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the stallion and your youngster of his.

im hearing more movement at the station. Dont be surprised if SBSW is here in the flesh, and dont be surprised to see DROPS(yes, DROPS) in the prices of some of the stallions...

The Western Ideal filly is a good strong type with attitude, i had her in early and tied her up a couple of time's and had her feet done and she was great. When recently weaning her we kept her in for a couple of day's to refresh her on being tied up and picking her feet up and now all she wants to do is give you both hinds to the fore head but she will come around. The thing most people comment on her is her length, she is of good size and a nice mover. To be honest i wanted a colt as they bring more at the sale's and now i have a filly i'll be lucky to break even but thats the way it goes.

Nah, not at all Nat, in fact I was a HUGE cynic with regard to the horse early on.
The wraps coming out of Canada were so massive & tied in with the bullshit coming out of the Southern Hemisphere M3 camp every time that any horse sired by him dropped a fart, at every step of the way at 2yrs, especially so when they stopped his season short & then again before SBSW returned at 3yrs I was dead sure that he would fall apart & never be seen again and I said as much. Instead he went on from being an exceptional 2yo to become, IMO, the best Pacing Colt ever to have looked through a Bridle at 3yrs & that includes the great Niatross. SBSW took class fields of 3yos apart in the saqme way that CC took the field apart in his Mircle Mile win. SBSW didn't just beat his opposition, he decimated them.
Hand on Heart I think he is a 'trans-generational' horse, and again there are reasonable comparisons to be drawn with CC as a racehorse and in SBSW's case, as a prospective sire.

He didn't race against duds most of them won good races and posted exceptional times and efforts but he mostly destroyed them when allowed

Somebeachsomehwere is an amazing animal.

I cannot comment on where he stands against the all time greats as I have not watched the other superhorses race, however if hes not the best he cant be too far behind. To be the equal fastest pacer of all time at 3 years and leading all the way was an awesome display. Only point I would have liked to have changed with him apart from seeing him race as an older horse, was I would have liked him to run in and win the Little Brown Jug.

Well, to get a grip on them you first have to compare apples with apples Buster. It's like Mile Rates for 1730m vs 2130m. They are not the same thing.
Those two are seasoned Aged Pacers. As good as they are now in the FFA Ranks here in the Southern Hemisphere, if you were to wind the clock back to when they were 3yos neither Smoken Up nor Mr Feelgood could have paced sectionals of 26.4, 52.4, 1:19.2 & 1:46.4 even if you dropped them down a mineshaft tied to a farrier's anvil let alone wiring a field to do so. SBSW did it...as a 3yo. Had he come back to race at 4yrs a sub 1:46 race mile was a real possibility.

Would have to agree that Somebeachsomewhere is at least the best of the last decade and I belive that he was voted this in the US.

As soon as he was available at stud I booked a mare in to him and got a beautiful filly, which I unfortunately lost in a paddock accident. Of all the foals I have bred ( 17 in total ) she was the most amazing to watch. She had amazing speed and could go from standing still to flat out almost instantly. She loved to run around the paddock.

Apparently Sombeachsomewhere was always active as a young horse and kept himself very fit. If you want to breed a horse with some ability he probably had the most and hopefully can pass this on. Another good point is that he is a big horse and even though I bred a small mare to him I still got a good sized foal.

I have a mare in foal to him at this point in time. I am looking first at getting a healthy foal and then hoping for a colt.

yeah but its fine to compare times of aussie horses and american ones...

SBSW was a great racehorse who had presence about him, i doubt that there will be a 3yr old like him for a long time. The only thing for me that let's him down a little is his breeding but i suppose one should not worry about this to much if you are breeding to one of the best horse's in the world.

Ask Uncle Russ to explain it to you Buster.

Rocknroll Hanover is still in the works and there's know guarantee that he will be standing at Warwick Stud in Victoria he might even be standing at Nevele R Stud if he come's out.

hasnt peppertree farm announced that heavan will be standing for $11000?

Yes they have announced he would be standing at $11,000 but i'm giving people on here the heads up on this one as he will be standing at $8,800 and a max of 10% discount for multiple mare's. At this price i think he is where he should be and he will get a full book for sure.

I'm extremely interested to know where Shark Gesture will be going. I'm pretty sure that he will be standing down here for the 2011/12 season. He was Iron tough. A serious hard arse.

I think they lowered the price due to him being to $$$$ for a first season sire, when Art Major and Bettor's started out they were around the $6-8 mark. Sale's out here have been average even though most sale companies put there usual spin on things and people are starting to look for value or proven sire's. At $8,800 he will serve around 250 and at $11,000 about 150, it's all about getting the numbers on the ground in the 1st couple of years as we all know numbers equals winners, so for me i think he is priced right. I also beleive the interest in him at $11,000 was average at best.

I agree. It is very important for his stud career down here that he gets a big book of mares in his first couple of years. At $11000 that was not going to happen. At $8800 I think he will attract more then 300 if they are prepared to do that many. That is the right fee IMO for an extremely exciting new stallion.

I think they're usually into Oz Quarantine around mid to late August & out early/mid September or thereabouts but if they happen to miss the 1st group through it's much later. Sometimes they'll skate on through it and other times there can be all sorts of bullshit that slows them down. These days some might even be doing their Q. time over in NZ & then ship here. Not sure.

I think i might have to bite the bullet and send one there but which one to send is the hard thing.

I think he's THE most brilliant Pacing colt that there has been in my lifetime.

He's a horse i would of liked to see race as a 4yr old but i do understand there's more money in the breeding barn.

I think he would have broken 1:46 in a race mile at 4yrs.
