Vincent of course has some pretty incredible distaff genes contributing too but can he become Art Major's top siring son (in Aus at least).

Vincent is really doing a great job and his fillies are maturing into tough little racehorses. The best of his stock to date, in my opinion, is Sherlock (renamed The Real Sherlock in Australia) which has really matured this time in. Rated the third best 3yo colt or gelding in NZ behind Merlin and Don't Stop Dreaming (toss of the coin between the two) he possesses high gate speed, a withering sprint and stays pretty well as demonstrated by his effortless, untouched Vicbred heat win.
In the West, Brulee and Turn The Page have been his standout fillies. The latter has won all her four starts in convincing fashion for the Bond's while her stablemates Cotton On (10 starts, 8 wins, 2 thirds) and 2yo Thelittle Master (11 starts, 5 wins, 3 wins) are showcasing the Vincent stock.
In NZ, the 2yo races are just starting to crank up. Vessem (unbeaten from 4 starts) is clearly the best juvenile produced this season while the are high hopes Bronson might match him when he resumes. Again, plenty of tough fillies over there with Cyren Shard making the trip from Auckland to Addington for this Friday.
As of this morning, Vincent (12 individual winners) sits 6th on the Australian 2yo sires list with his sire Art Major (1st) the only full-timee resident Australian sire ahead of him. On the 3yo list he sits 6th (24 winners, $584k) and Art Major (4th) the only full-time resident ahead of him.
Those figures are impressive enough to suggest he is well on his way. However, when you look at the diversity of sires representing the dams of his winners you can see another string to his bow. No "golden crosses" emerging yet, he is leaving winners to any pedigree.
Breeding to big leggy mares is probably going to be key - none of our Vincents are athletic types but yeh, his progeny seem to be strong!
Turn The Page monstered the other fillies last night in sitting parked to win the Daintys Daughter at Gloucester Park. She is a beautiful, big lump of a filly who appears to still have her L-plates on as a racehorse. The same might be said of (The Real) Sherlock, which brained a small field of 3yo's at Melton tonight over rare 2780 metres trip. While 2:00.6 mile rate might not appear anything special, this came seven days after a hoof abcess saw him miss the VicBred final. His final 400 metres - 25.6 seconds - was unbelievable as he, too, is prone to have a look around during running.
In NZ, Kiwi Hero made it back-to-back standing start wins at Addington over 2600 and 2000 metres, so they are shaping as pretty good stayers. These three horses are from mares by Sands A Flyin, American Ideal and Falcon Seelste; French Chef, No Nukes and Bret Hanover sire lines. So, no clues to what Vincent clicks with from these offspring.
However, all three dams come from good producing families in their second and third generations, perhaps that should become a prime consideration when breeding to him.
