    Mindari Priddy

    Talk about butchered last night.

Her first couple of starts, he drives her extremely tough.

After holding the lead last night, he drives her like she's a 50-1 chance trying to steal one.

I think he was more interested in sitting up so the stablemate outside him didn't work that bit harder for a 200m dash up the straight. Only to have his pants pulled down along the sprint lane.

30.4 Q3 off a 64 half, 28.4 home. I've no doubt, she could of reeled off a couple of 28's and won by panels.

Disappointing to see go down in that manner.

There was a cloud over her during the week possibly just trying to give her easy run as possible.

Reported as having elevated temp during week. Tipping missed some work as a result.

Look at semi final. Drove her exactly the same way.
    64.2 first half. Then 29.3 and 28.6.

    In final.
63.6 first half. Then 30.4 and 28.8. ** Track was a bog this week

The winner of final sat on her back in semi-final and couldn't get near her.
Did same in final and got past her.

She had to work out the gate to hold the fence. Maybe that and the events of the week took its toll. No way he was sitting up for the stablemate.

Also was widely reported and no secret that she was very headstrong early on. Am sure she had multiple trials before qualifying as galloped. Had to drive her that way early on else she spat the dummy and galloped. Also been reported that she's got better and more tractable every start she's had.

The only difference between Melton on Saturday night and the Sand Dunes at Botany here in Sydney was that, from what I could see...there were no Tiger Snakes present at Melton. What in the Hell were they thinking? Sand???????? Turned it into a huge mess.

7 of the 10 races had a final half of 57 & change or better, 4 in the 56's. It was hardly a bog.

He was sitting up for the stablemate, no doubt about it. He did in the Aussie Gold and very near lost his pants there too.

Her biggest danger on Saturday night was the Cookie Boy steering ... and he won : )

The avg final half for the 6 finals was 57.8. The week before in the semi finals 56.7. The track was bad.

It was even mentioned in the form analysis that the filly had had a temperature. You have no idea - they're not machines you know!

2 of my friends horses made the finals and put in pretty ordinary efforts, 1 was thought to have had a virus after only a fair effort in the semi-final. The local vet checked them out early in the week and they were both givin the all clear. 2 days after the finals both had massive amounts of discharge coming from their nose. The local(IDIOT) vet has made a huge blunder missing the viral symptoms and this could be the case with Mindari and quite a few of the others who put in substandard efforts in the Finals.

    Hi Richard,
You're right about some of these Vet impersonators. Took over the training of a four year old that had showed a reasonable amount of ability at three but he kept going lame after track workouts. The previous trainer's vet had assured him via X-rays that the horse had arthritis and would be a wasted effort as a racing proposition. Didn't believe the arthritis bit myself so took him off to my farrier and discovered a stone bruise as big as a 50 cent piece. My farrier treated the stone bruise and he went on to win quite a few races. Message to be had: don't take everything that vets say as gospel especially ones with limited experience with horses.

Not wrong Rod, even with my limited knowledge, you would check the horses feet as I likely symptom. A stone bruise that large would be hard to miss. I lost a foal, 1 day old a few years ago. The vet was called straight away and when he arrived, he had no idea whatsoever about horses, my 12 year old niece had to show him what to do. I was fuming and when the bill arrived, the owner of the practice learnt quite a few new words. The idiot vet specialised in cattle and was moved on quickly before I could rip him a new one.
