It was the other American's turn tonight with Brett Miller driving a double which included Ace Duigan at odds of 19/1 taking a whole second off the Echuca 2160m Tk Record when he rated 1.57.2

The Culture once again showed what a speed machine he is - taking 0.7 off the Ballarat 1710m Tk Rec previously held by Saab Quality when he rated 1.53.0 tonight
(This MR is also faster than the 1609m record held by Smoken Up and Abettorpunt)
He has only been racing a year and tonight was only his 16th start. Three starts ago he rated 1.51.6 at Melton. He is still assessed as M0

Beautide broke the 2,300m track record at Menangle yesterday.
We are lucky to have a West Aussie to cover for our NSW reporters
Thanks Rob

Oh Jonny B Goode, driven by Amanda Turnbull went within 1/10th of a second in equalling the 1720m mobile start record of 1:56:0 at Young tonight.
In his heat of the Southern Star, Keystone Del SMASHED his own Melton 1720m Tk Rec when he rated 1.53.7 (probably to his detriment later - although it was this heat's death seater that won the final)

How quickly the sport has SPED UP
Go back little more than a couple of years and you would have been astonished to see 2yo's rating 1.56.7 at their first start (in the country at that)

Indeed. Heza Head Honcho (2yo) went 1.55.8 at his first ever start at Bunbury. Times like that have become so commonplace it's not even mentioned any more.
On that note, isn't it time they changed the breeding records so that dark type horses need to run 1.55 now instead of 2.00? I remember back in the 90s that 2.00 was very fast, but now it's slow as hell and yet the horses that go inside 2.00 are black type

Mare Whatahottie's 1.54.9 at Cranbourne tonight was only 0.6 secs outside Island Glow's Track Record - that record has now stood for 19 years!
