Aachen 1952 (cunningly named to be first sire in the Stud Book)

Once holder of the unbeaten winning sequence for ANZ with 20
Sadly his son Bylaw was the end of his sire Springfield Globe's male line
(maybe someone can tell us if grandsire Globe Derby's line is surviving anywhere)

His dam line continues to be significant

His dam Connenora's line is still going strong especially through Sarah Sands - Sandy Wave ......

His 2nd dam Millie De Oro is:
the 5th dam of Surfing Safari 1992 (dual derby winner)
the 8th dam of champion QLD mare Forever Gold 2007 so I am condident that this arm of N4 will stay strong

the last stallion from the Globe Derby line to stand at stud was Magic Rule NZ.Now deceased .Last foals born 2013.Had 7 starters for 3 winners.

You are talking about the cream Justin but 'great Australian maternal lines' is not exactly what I was aiming for in this thread.
I am aiming at a 'nostalgia trip' and looking at some our great horses and seeing if their families still have descendants going around

Adaptor 1963

The winner of the 1969 Miracle Mile, he was sold 3 days later to the US for a record $120k plus contingencies for $75k

He retired to stud in America but according to ClassicFamilies he had little success and nothing that continues to the present day

His dam Mirthful Lass and her line of A480 also pretty much finished with Adaptor

If however you believe my old favourite 'Ian Daff's Black Book' you would have Adaptor in Ian's family 22 (Lutie Rodgers U304)
If this was so and Adaptor's 4th dam was Jewell Nest (and not Chestnut Vale) then the line is still going strong through Wingara (2011) winner of 13/18

The HRA database does not go back to Adaptor's 4th dam
Ian Daff did it all pre computer so I think we will defer to ClassicFamilies

My dad was a very ardent trots man before he passed away and till the day he died he hated how everyone flocks to the usa/canadanian stallions and to a lesser extent the kiwis. Adaptor was my dads fave horse he used to tell me when he came from the bush to the big smoke how good his miracle mile win was at HP as he lived in a boarding house right near HP

Being from the premier N1 Family you would think the continuation of his bloodlines would be assured but the succession of his arm of the family is not totally secure
Don't Retreat failed as a sire and although the descendants list for his dam Tui Scott looks lengthy, there are not many $100k winners

About To Rock 2006 Hunter Cup winner has Tui Scott as his 5th dam but he is a gelding, however there seems to be enough filly performers from Seabreeze Franco (with Tui Scott as their 5th dam) to think they will keep the arm alive and possibly reignite it

Shake It Mama 2012 Australian Oaks winner or Lady Octavia 2008 Tassie Oaks winner may be ones to breed on and they have Don't Retreat's 2nd dam Betty Wrack as their 7th dam

Hi dam, Mirthful Lass was no slouch, winning in 2:10.8 which was very quick for the 1950's.
Dons Ayr, the sire of Mirthful Lass was a star 2yo winning the 1948 NSW Sapling stakes.and raced on to win a cup in 1952 at Miners Rest (Ballarat)

Adaptor belongs to Classic Family A480, Fanny Denver, not the family of Jewel Nest.

His half brother Aransas by Welcome Stranger was a good horse for Echuca trainerTunny Buckley .
Mirthful Lass had 3 daughters which were bred from, none of which had named foals.

Adaptor stood at stud in the US, but I can only find
Maternal Line Descendants for Adaptor (1963)
Pink Pearl 1974 (F U19) by Adaptor - Pacer $0 [1]
dam of Corsage 1980 (F U19) by Escort - Pacer $112 [1]
dam of Lingan Hook 1986 (M U19) by Sly Bird - 1:58.2US $87,914

But the family of Adaptor in Aus and his progeny in the US do not appear to have bred on.

Evicus: First Interdominion Champion. Classic Family A720 Milky Way (Sired by the great Bendigo sire Directway).

Captain Sandy: First dual Interdominion winner. A231 Rosebud .
The Captain was bred in NZ but the family was Australian in origin.
