    Chiquita lodge

Hi All I know my question is a galloping one but can anyone settle a bet on Chiquita Lodge at Flemington Racecoourse.
    When was it built
One person sayd early 50s, and the other has said late 50s so if we can get anactual year of completion that will settle the bet
    Regards
    Bob

Let us know if you find out. My brother-in-law may have it squirreled away somewhere (if his books survived downsizing) however he won’t be home until closer to Christmas

Chicquita’s magic transformed the life and career of her trainer, Tony Lopes – 29 when she won the Oaks for him. On the strength of her success he relocated from Mentone to lease new on-course stabling at Flemington, naming the complex Chicquita Lodge.

She won the Oaks in 49 so I am leaning toward early 50’s

Our TooHard has been on the job too.
He says prior to 54 Cup videos are no good but the 54 Cup shows Chiquita Lodge was there BUT there was no name on the building
He also found on Trove that Lopes was listed as a Mentone trainer in 54 and in 59
So he thinks that maybe you are both right
