Stewards were satisfied that there was no advantage gained while racing inside the marker pegs........I though there was a rule? Obviously not .
NO , he would have been help up . Because there was NO room for him to go there .
PP has highlighted this race on his page and I must agree.
I use this title as the incident shows that our Chief Steward has absolutely no idea
As he was on the panel on Saturday I assume he was the chair for the night
The stewards report says:
General – The all clear was delayed to review footage of the home straight when Young Bluey (Matthew Craven) raced inside marker pegs. After taking submissions from Mr.Craven, Stewards were satisfied that there was no advantage gained while racing inside the marker pegs and the all clear was given on the judges placings 11-1-10-5.
YOUNG BLUEY – Held up for clear running on the final turn prior to utilising the sprint lane. Tightened by Rocknroll Hammer NZ in the home straight, resulting in the gelding being inconvenienced and racing inside marker pegs for a short distance.

How can you say that there was no advantage gained when Matthew Craven went for a run that was not there and went way inside the marker pegs to run second - otherwise he does not run a place
I had no money on the race but do know that it was a jackpot First 4 race with the pool 10x's the night's average
The sprint lane does not entitle 2 horses to come up the inside, sometimes it happens that there is room for two but on this occasion there was not
Punters need to know that rules are clear cut and adhered to
I can now have no faith in the stewards always doing the right thing
Here is the replay

Here is a still from the stewards footage (thanks to PP) showing the horse and card about ⅓ inside the pegs. If this was a fence the driver would be lying in the infield
This is just my opinion of course. Does anybody think that Young Bluey runs a place without going well inside the marker pegs?
Greg Sugars was a Champion harness racing person

The 3rd and 4th horses needed to protest. That would have been interesting.
Don't die wondering !
