From HRNSW:
Peter Morris Jnr disqualified for 18 months
Wednesday 24 August 2011
Trainer Mr. Peter Morris JNR pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule of Racing 190 (1),(2) & (4) in that as the trainer of TULLIES RETURN he did present that horse to race in race 4, the Austrain Academy Pace at the Bulli at Menangle meeting on Monday, 15 August, 2011 when a blood sample taken from it prior to the race upon analysis revealed a Total Plasma Carbon Dioxide level above the threshold.
Mr Morris was disqualified for a period of 18 months effective immediately.
Although Mr Morris is disqualified, HRNSW will permit him to continue to perform his duties for the NSW Harness Racing Club under strict conditions.
In considering penalty, stewards took into account Mr Morris previous record, his guilty plea and his current domestic circumstances.
TULLIES RETURN was disqualified from its 4th placing under Rule of Racing 195 from the above mentioned race.
Does anyone find the middle bit astonishing? The Morris family have a fairly interesting record when it comes to positives. Any positive brings the industry into disrepute. YET he is allowed to continue to 'work' for the Menangle Club?
That is a disgrace. An absolute disgrace. The NSW industry is a leper unwilling to seek treatment. Just allow things to continually eat away at it.
Added to that Old Man Morris doesn't mind pointing the finger at people because he cannot get a winner these days. Maybe he should sort out his own backyard first where the record sheet makes for ugly reading.
