Yes, spoke with her on the phone after the race, she was pretty devastated, tyre got flattened soon after the start. Horse wasn't travelling overly kindly which didn't help. I don't think it helped much telling her that she had driven a good race and that sometimes you just can't beat bad luck. In the end I told her to go out kick the dog, have a good yell at something/somebody, burn all her driving clothes, and that by lunchtime today she'd be getting herself back up

Thankfully she was starting to sound brighter by the end of the phone call. I related to her that I've seen drivers come back with a flat tyre, get out of the cart kick the wheel and say "F... it, that's the 3rd flat tyre in a month".
Isn't horse racing one of the best tests of character? I often try to calm myself by repeating numerous times, you have to experience bad luck so you know what good luck is.
