I cannot tell from that, who was at fault
Race 5 at Menangle last Tuesday http://www.harnessmediacentre.com.au.../replays/18480
Driver D Thorn (Mad Gambler) fails to look just before the turn and contacts D McCall (Victree Dancer) with the sad result after rushing the well bred filly to the Vet Hospital, she had to be put down. Inquiry Adjourned as D McCall had to leave the track in a hurry.
I cannot tell from that, who was at fault
Greg Sugars was a Champion harness racing person
Thorn moved off the pegs right in front of McCall's horse who had established a position one off, possibly some mitigating circumstances in that the horse in front of him began to give ground, but he didn't look. 6 weeks.
I see it now - certainly was occupied with the one falling back in his lap

Just noticed D Thorn suspended yesterday 4 weeks. Could be this drive.
I do not usually bag drivers on this forum, but gee that was negligent in my humble opinion, peripheral vision usually allows you to see a horse at your shoulder, WITHOUT turning your head and taking a BIG look, if David Thorn copped a holiday for that drive I reckon after seeing the tape/replay he would cop it on the chin.
