Kathleen, I see your post has had 45 views but still no answer.
Maybe your pondering as to whether there is a retirement age for monte racing could be the answer or is it just a coincidence that he turned 45 on April 16
Just wondering if there is a limit to monte races at a certain age for riders? I cannot find any information on why someone like Jean Michel Bazire (he of 17 Sulky D'ors) would hang up the boots and remain sulky only

Greg Sugars was a Champion harness racing person
The reason Bazire does not ride monte is for medical reasons
He probably wants to eat a PIZZA. or a French Pastry once in awhile ?
I never had seen a " vomit sink " in the "driver's locker room ? until I raced at tracks that raced BOTH Standardbreds, AND T-Breds
It would be very hard to live in France and NOT be able to EAT !!
There is no age limit in Europe. You can drive and ride as long as the medical check is in order. Of course you habe to accomplish the professional conditions
