This must be some kind of record.
In Race 8 at Launceston on Sunday, Ben Yole is the trainer of 12 of the 13 starters.
Reminds me of a Beatles song, "For the benefit of Mr. Yole"!
Believe it or not he has actually done better Steve

APG heats at Melton this afternoon. Interesting for the C&G there are 2 heats of 6 (not 1 of 12) maybe it is in the conditions. I noticed that there was no 4yo mares heat run at Gloucester Park - I wonder whether any nominations go straight through?

The timing of the APG heats in WA across all ages was ridiculous. We had the choice of running Star Of Diamonds in a $22k city race on the friday or the $10k heat on a tuesday (when there was a group 3 the next friday), and then 2 weeks later contest a $50k Group 2 or the $51k APG WA final against the boys.
We have a 3yo filly who missed the heat because of the timing of other more important races but the 3yo final isn't for weeks. It's like they squeezed the heats and finals in wherever they could fit without considering the existing programming and what races trainers would go for. I'm mad about it.
None of our horses are going to be sent east for the final even if they could win it - in fact I think Michael Brennan's 2 horses are the only WA horses that will so really the whole "buy an APG horse and race for hundreds of thousands" is a farce.
If you got to tonight's Metro meeting after 7pm expecting to see R1 which would have been the case in the old days
You will have missed 5 races
We know why - just saying

Watching one of the 16 horse races in NZ
You would think that they should always be preferential barrier draws because at best a horse running last has to make up 25m to put itself into the race
