We had a very special 2yo winner at Cobram today
Hes Charlies Angel (Sweet Lou)
Just watch this
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...21#COC19082107
Sat in death, 1.55.4 after a pedestrian 33 Q2 came home in 27.7 and 26.6 to win by 22m at his first start.
Charlene Gusman has a horse to threaten the Stewart stable dominance
You need to go back a bit in the pedigree (although mum was a nice 2yo), 3rd dam is a half sister to the granddam of Alta Orlando
ps Race should have been a False Start as No.4 was where No.11 should have been

An even better (more detailed) story from Harnesslink

Surprising to read Charlene chose his sire for the markings that he usually imprints on his progeny (which she did not get)

Always B Miki's True Blue Lindy won the $160k Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for C&G at The Meadowlands on Friday

There are a couple of well bred 2yos making their debut at Wagga today
While the best 2yo in the country, Mister Rea is going around against older horses in R7

Captaintreacherous's 2yo's had a big day in the states yesterday
Greg Sugars was a Champion harness racing person
Downbytheseaside dominating the Ohio Sires Stakes
Quinellaed the Colts and the Fillies, in fact got the first four in the colts although both winners won comfortably with the filly Sea Silk nearly a second faster than colt Gulf Shores
You will find them in the Highest purse box down the bottom of this link (but this link is only good for a day) and then click to go to the results

Not all races are super fast in the USA, even Sires Stakes Finals worth $70k can be run in 2 minutes
Grey Rocket won the Marylands SS for fillies in 1.59.4
while Anthonys All In won the colts in 2.01.2
Grey Rocket is by Cams Rocket who is now 24yo. He has only ever had one big earner - Googoo Gaagaa ($665k)
Anthonys All In is by Rustys All In (2006) who is yet to have a big earner (well a big earning classic winner at least, as my source is Classic Families)
The races were held at Ocean Downs, Berlin, Maryland
This is a half mile track so I cannot work out how they have mile races especially when their home straight is only 440ft (134m) so it must be pretty circular (pic below)
but mile races they were (no lead time) and here is a link confirming the track layout
http://www.horseracing-tracks.com/tr.../layoutOd.html
I wish I could find a replay to see how they ran mile races

I found this excellent video on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj2lHf4ETYk
They let them go as they hit the winning post and about to hit the bend
It must be a massive advantage to runners drawn in
