    Watts up partytime

Hi all, would I be right i saying that I saw Metropolitan Harness history when Watts Up Partytime won 2 races at the same meeting at odds of over $50 on tote dividends.
I am aware that horses have won twice at the same meeting but at those extravagant odds ?

Also can anyone recall the Kilmore Cup being run in a heats /Final format at the Kilmore show if so, did any horse win both heat and final ?

I can recall a horse named Beach Boy trained and driven by W "Shaver" Reid winning under those conditions probably around 1959/60 era from memory.

Hi Bob, I have moved your thread here (to get more views)
The Vic tote had him at $21 for the heat win and $61 for the Final win
Nevertheless I think that could be a record

I am working on the Kilmore questions - but without any luck so far
We lost a couple of good men with great memory banks in Noel Ridge and Trevor Brown in the last couple of years - how we miss their knowledge in areas such as this

Hi Kev, I lost a post which was to convey my sad thoughts on the passing of Noel and Trevor, I had a small chat with Noel through this forum in regard to training tracks at Kensington (Melb) my old hometown.
I started going to the trots as a kid assisting a fella name Stan Taylor, Son of Tom and brother of Howard, i think saw just about every country track in Vic., Stan was a great guy to me, and started taking me to the showgrounds about 1955 so i have seen a few of the gooduns, I used to marvel at the brilliance of the young horse of McKays at standing starts and with Del Fitzpatrick in the gig they were a formidable combination, I saw Halwes first start on the mainland with Aub Wesley driving him wow what a performance that night. Keep up the great work Kev and love having a read through the posts, Best Wishes Bob

Bob, you might like to read this.

    https://country.racing.com/kilmore/about-us/history

    You will see:

Records show that trotting was conducted at Kilmore as early as 1896, but the first track was built by voluntary labour from 1958 and in 1963 the Kilmore Trotting Club held their inaugural meeting. The first Kilmore Pacing Cup was run 1964

I figure that before '64 they must have had trotting races on the gallops track so that your memory of a Kilmore Cup, possibly with heats, could have been part of the their Show. Heats and a final were often the format for Agricultural Shows

Thanks for those links Kev , outstanding reading and amazing history in particular the Allen family. I chucked at the post containing the Dennis catering nights at the showgrounds, what a night they were , if only they could get the crowds there again like those nights would be fantastic. Thanks again Kev Best Wishes Bob
