So are WA's finances healthier than other states (although I think NSW is good too) - has it got anything to do with them still having a city central track?
I know on face value they have been swindled on the deal they did for a big chunk of GP real estate

If we had 60 mil , we would have bought it .
Amazing position , we stayed on the other side of the Swan River & it lit up on Friday night .
I would think it has a lot to do with city central for sure .

    Why did they sell??
I think it was a silly idea , bit like HP .

I think PP said that they were getting a new Grandstand and just $10m from developers for a sizeable chunk of Perth inner city

Yes WA are VERY impressive. It is not only their Friday metro meet but their 3 other days where every race is for $9,360 - even their Sunday meet is the equal of any non-metro Vic meet

Mind you NSW looks pretty bloody good to a Vic too

Harness Racing WA appears to be flooded with money, but this does not translate to the quality of the horses competing. In Race 10 at GP last night, the purse was $21,000; however, the winner has not won a race since July 28, 2023. Additionally, there are one or two 1,177-meter races each week at Pinjarra, each offering a purse of $9,360. Unfortunately, the quality of horses in these events seems more suitable for the Birdsville Camel Carnival. These horses should be relegated to outer country tracks, but many have closed. While there is ample funding in the sport, the quality of the horses does little to generate interest among the public, nor does it enhance the appeal of harness racing as a spectacle or in terms of wagering.

Yes Rod, you would not think races for NR<61 would warrant $21k unless a final for country heats
It is a big thing to move but it is somewhat surprising that a couple of Vic stables are not tempted to move and improve WA's horse quality - then again most owners want their horses racing in their home state
Maybe it is more surprising that more East coast horses are not being purchased what with the money on offer in WA - maybe your syndicators need to create a bit of interest?
