There is more to it than just age Ash - I brought up Adore Me as a better example than your FF in my original post so you really are missing the point but if you want to go with FF you might notice he has had the equivalent of a whole seasons more racing than Lenny (14 starts) but they are all individuals that develop at different rates
Rattray said in post race interview that if Herc had persisted then he would have taken on TTL so maybe he could have got the death
