I would have liked to hear it as it was a fascinating catch me if you can drive my Monique Burnett

It looks as if she didn't have any option other than let it run, as the stewards note striking the sulky with hind legs.
You can see the off side hind leg getting very close to the sulky wheel.

Echuca abandoned tonight, our tracks don't even seem to handle some rain as well as the gallopers lately
No proper weather station at Echuca but nearby Swan Hill and Kyabram have only averaged a quarter of an inch this afternoon

It's a trend I've noticed more and more over here in WA. I barely recall a single meeting being cancelled 10 years ago. It's a constant thing these days. Either the weather is 4 times as bad as it was or track curation is a lost art. I feel like it's a conspiracy for harness racing to glean less revenue, thus nailing our coffin but they wouldn't do that would they?

I put it down to faulty rain guages. Stewards can't read them properly and think there is more water in them than there really is.

Many people know the peterprofit website with Archie's thoughts on all things racing. I sometimes reference him but his criticism of Greg Sugars drive on Borntoboom last night was very unfair and incorrect. For a start, "holding the lead from the pole would have been easy", was not a possibility as the horse went very roughly and I don't think there was ever a point when I would have wanted my money on him. He stayed in for the sprint lane but couldn't even get 2nd ahead of the horse that was in the death for the last lap

Winner tonight at Terang, I Am A Wingate, is rather uniquely bred
He is the only starter of his sire I Am The Way (1995) and as I Am The Way only had one season (2011/12) with 5 services for 3 foals and with I Am A Wingate an 8yo and the other 2 foals not named, I think it is pretty safe to say that he will be his only ever starter.
I Am The Way NZ had 175 starts (all but 2 in Australia) finishing in 2006 so it was pretty unusual to see him tried as a sire so much later, especially as he never won a metro race and was not regally bred

The second dam of I Am A Wingate is a fully imported daughter of Albatross, from the U28 family.
She has Most Happy Fella as a close relative.

I Am The Way traces back to the champion Bendigo sire Directway, through his daughter Rarebell Direct...ancestress of the I949 nter Dominion champion Single Direct and the most recent fast horse in the family On Advice: Set Australian 3YO Trotters Mile Record 1:54.5 (19-06-2021). Set Australasian 3YO Trotters Mile Record 1:54.5 (19-06-2021 ).

I Am The Way is also bred 3x3 to Most Happy Fella.

Thanks Noel. The dam side is certainly interesting, I Am A Wingate's 5th dam is Most Happy Fella's 3rd dam
