There are surely massive positives from running a sale like this. Broodmare sales should never be compared to yearling sales in terms of clearance rates. It’s a niche part of our game. The clearance rates were much lower for WA based sales entries as opposed to others for obvious reasons.
There are huge advantages to buyers and sellers with a sale like this. The outlay costs for APG and Vendors is minimal. Advertising is basically the only cost with horses being able to be auctioned while standing in their paddocks at home. The location of horses will no doubt play a part in the bidding process, I for one, was not going to buy a horse based on WA or Qld solely cause I didn’t want to fetch it.
I was so excited to see the catalogue for this sale and even more happy that I picked a mare up. I’ll definitely watch with interest again next year. It gives newer Breeders in the game, access to world class bloodlines, a perfect way to start out.
