Here's a biggie:
Bendigo trainer John McDermott and his neighbour Scott Rains combine with Waikare Colleen in the 2yo trot at Ballarat.
$137 if you don't mind.
Looking at the Big Bets article
https://www.thetrots.com.au/news/art...ive-odds-land/
I am amazed that the stingy TAB took 5 bets of between $20 and $30 at pretty much 125/1 on Our Sportscaster
The best part of a $15k payout for a take of only $115
Also seeing that they took/lost $32,500 to $5,000 on Amused at Mildura is amazing.
That is odds of $6.50 and he still started the backable odds of $5 fixed
The Tote Win pool on the race was < $10,000 (sure does fluctuate as the race before it was > $22,000 while the race after was < $6,000)
Gee it would be good to know what their Fixed holdings are

What is super amazing about that Noel
Is there were 5 first starters, 5 second starters , 1 having its third start and and 1 having its fifth
There was no supposed good thing or short favourite
Amazing to think a 1st starter out of a well performed mare ($149k and winner of three Gp2's) and a well performed 2nd dam ($131k) could start those odds

I first met Henry McDermott and his young family at a Mildura Cup carnival in the mid 1970s. I think it was Thoron that he bought all the way from Dubbo. One of his best horses was Waikare Queen, a very good pacer and ancestress of Waikare Colleen. Waikare Queen's dam was Queen Bee, a very good Trotter in the 1950s.
Really great to see both the Queen Bee and the McDermott families are still to the fore five decades on.
Don't die wondering !
Good to hear Rick. As you know I often highlight well related horses about to race - somehow I overlooked it

Not really that much evidence of an old fashioned plunge on Loorrim Lake
Although $100 each-way at $34/$5 is respectable
(Someone remind me - does that mean $100win and $100place or 50+50?)

BUT the article is only from the TAB, which is apparently not where the bigger punters get on
