I don't usually see the Herald Sun but doing a bit of cafe reading today saw a mention of Animated in yesterday's paper
1.54.9 wide, then parked and pretty much untouched at Bendigo last Wednesday
http://www.harness.org.au/meeting-results.cfm?mc=BN141015&ms=vic#BNC14101505
I would have thought we may have got a post about this from a certain Bendigo poster of ours
Are you holding out on us Noel

No...I'm still here.
It was a bit lost in the avalanche of local winners that week:As I posted on the BHRC Website: www.bhrc.com.au
Punters who follow Bendigo trained horses and view the video of Bendigo Trials, are having a field day, with 9 winners in the past week.
One, the Bill White trained I Am I Cried won last Sunday at Shepparton paying $74, while the Glenn Sharp trained Spud won the next race paying $24.
The recent winners are:
Oct 7
Bendigo: Sheer Strength and
Saint Grace
Oct 10
Melton :Sun of Sonoko
Oct 11
Shepparton: I Am I Cried, Spud,
Master Machmanus and Another Ayjay
Oct 14
Bendigo: Sukovia and
Animated who raced three wide into the death then sprinted away in the straight to win untouched in 1.54.9.
Hayden Gray , local concession driver drove a double, and then again at Geelong drove another double
It pays to follow the Bendigo Trial form ( although Sukovia tralled well at Maryborough before the first up win.)

Our Hi Jinx wins the Gp1 Queensland Pacing Championship in Track Record time rating 1.55 for the 2680m. The cheats lane played a part but he had led for half the race
Philadelphia Man $1.40 was sooooooo ridiculous

Great run OHJ is having, even though cheat express lane played a massive part.
Philadelphia Man starting those odds was just plain crazy.
I still don't understand how many people talk about his 'strength! Overrated much?

I have never thought of him as strong either Ev, until the previous run in the Gold Coast Cup over the shorter trip. I prefer him over the shorter trip

Ye for sure Kev! He is much better over the short, or he must have a good run in transit over the longer journey. He won't be or he 'shouldn't' be starting those ridiculous odds anytime soon, when he's racing against some very high quality horses.

I remember that Noel. I think the records at Stawell can still go much lower despite it being a tight little track. Before today the 1780m was held by Our Bedrock while Hi Tech Fury holds the 2175m - good horses but not top class. It would be interesting to see what some topliners could run.

Being off 20m is the MR calculated on his time or the front line? I am thinking the front line or else it would be possible for non winners to hold the Track Record.

Gday Kev
To my knowledge its race time divided by distance covered x 1609. So in Monbets case need to use 2780m not 2760m to get 1.59.6
And yes non-winner can have faster mile rate but think you have to be a winner to considered track record holder.

Thanks Paul, that makes sense as it would be silly to credit a handicapped horse with a Track Record of 'x' when he really rated 'y'. I suppose I/we should also let go of the Track Record having to belong to a winner as it is probably just as silly to say horse A holds the record when horse B has gone faster. I suppose the problem is expressing records in MR's - if expressed in time (I think NZ do this) then a non winner cannot hold the record

I think the 1.54.4 was an Australian record on the a track 1,000 metres or less, Flying Isa ran 1.53.2 winning at Menangle on the 4 March 2014 so that would be regarded as the 'all track' Australian record. On that note, isn't it time they changed the breeding records so that dark type horses need to run 1.55 now instead of 2.00? I remember back in the 90s that 2.00 was very fast, but now it's slow as hell and yet the horses that go inside 2.00 are black type

Just looking up what I thought was a fast time at Hamilton today, only to discover it is not within cooee of the Tk Rec and that the Tk Rec was broken twice on March 21 and is now 1.52.7 to the credit of Emmanuel (Spiritwriter briefly held it at 1.53.1)

Makes you wonder doesn't it, that was a good field and the horse drew 7 and paid $27. I didn't see the race because it was onto late. I would not have picked it especially with some of the good Hall horses in it, but it has had good form before a spell and it does have a 1:52:6 to its credit at GP over 1730 which is just about the track record. Noteworthy is that the horse is ranked about 40th for the inters which is the lowest of the 6 Bond horses.

“What I do is stand by myself, because I get so caught up in things, probably about the sixteenth pole and then literally run with him,” Hurley said about his race day ritual with Always B Miki (http://stars.ustrotting.com/stallion.cfm?stallion_id=808). “I can’t keep up, but I begin running toward the finish line.
...And then I hear somebody say ‘world record’ and I hear somebody else say ‘1:46’ and then it’s just -- well, there’s no feeling to describe it. I have a pretty wide vocabulary, but there is no word in the vocabulary to describe the feeling.”

Kevin, this is a good time anywhere for that distance. One thing I always look for is how far back 2nd and 3rd are when these fast times are run and in this case it is 14m and 29m and indicates to me that the winner is a much better horse than the rest of the field. Nearly always when a real fast time is recorded-the rest of the field are left in the winners wake.

Yes, snuck under the guard. Run oneover seems to overrace a lot and lets the other horses in with a chance. Heez on fire didn't fire a shot either.
Chicago Bull also went pretty quick for the 2100. 1.53 is becoming pretty common place at GP these days. next up is 1.52. couldn't have imagined that 10 years ago when 1.58 was impressive
I should mention our little guy Jack Mac broke the Pearl record by a couple secs last night too.

Katie, they are certainly flying. I suppose one good thing for those who haven't got a fast horse is that you can sneak in a win in a 2130m race in 1:58 at GP mainly a C1-C4 or MO but once you get past that then the times goes into mid 1:50's. The 2 y/o girls ran good time last week too. We used to be happy if one of our horses ran 1:59 but those days are virtually over. This speed explosion seems to have really picked up in the last 12 months and track records don't last long if you have a real good one in your stable.

Last season I believed Lazarus could possibly be the best of all time (my lifetime at least). After his first up win I thought he was back to near his best and while Chicago Bull had been excellent I couldnt see him beating Lazarus. Soho Tribeca atways been a star but the step up to Grand Circuit racing was still an unknown and I thought he was a better run than Chicago Bull a couple weeks ago so I had Lazarus pencilled in for ID success. But after last night the Bull and Tribeca could be every bit as good as Lazarus imo.

Across the ditch in Auckland, the next superstar of the sport won the 2700m stand, $50,000 Franklin Cup first up. Rated 1:59.0, almost equalled his own NZ record.

Ameretto is not the only star mare in the Manning stable
At Ballarat tonight, Our Golden Goddess equalled her stablemate's Tk Rec for 2200m going 1.54.4

She is very good. Another ex-Purdon / Rassmussen filly, she was probably third in the pecking order behind Dream About Me and Picadilly Princess in her year. The 4th in line, My Mackenzie, has won about $300k in the USA this year and is now one of the best mares over there. Great group of fillies to have in your stable!

It certainly has been amazing domination by one stable Trevor. No doubt they have the clients with the money to spend and the trainer knows how to pick them - It is 'Bart Cummings like' maybe even something more as they don't just dominate one staying race, they dominate across the board

It was Lightening Mile night at Ballarat tonight
but it was in the 1710m C2 race that a sensational New Tk Rec was created by 4yo Beach Surge
He took 1.2 secs off the Rec when he recorded a MR of 1.51.8
This takes his record to 6 wins from 12 starts
His dam Lagoon Lady was a Free For All'er who won over $200k at the start of this century

At Bathurst on Boxing Day's night, the press release from the meeting praises:
The other feature race, the Ray and Olive McCarthy Memorial, drew an outstanding field of 3C0/3C1 fillies, and produced a new track record for that class when Major Occasion maintained its unbeaten record this season with a dominant performance.
The Art Major daughter, a Vicbred champion at two, did plenty of work before putting paid to favourite and leader Miss Keesha NZ, then holding off a late charge from Callmequeenbee.
Closing quarters of 27.9 and 28.8 seconds rounded out a mile rate of 1:54.8, taking almost half a second from the standard set in the corresponding race last year by 3YO filly-of-the-year Don’t Think Twice.

Yes, a Class Record Steve, with the filly only a couple of secs outside the Tk Rec. I wish class records were included in Track details
Charlaval's 1.58.2 was a Tk Rec for the 2790m Gp2 but it was only the second race over that distance

It is good time (and at $56) but third placed Chicago Bull has gone 1 sec faster
I noticed he had won a couple of trials at Byford since resuming Katie - obviously a decent trials track but surprising to see it has not had a single meeting for over 12 years
