Not Fred, Kevin Thompson called Menangle last night
Its a shame more mile races at Menangle aren't run like R3 last night. It truly was a race full of non-stop action as opposed to what I consider the norm.......zero moves in the 2nd & 3rd qrts.
The one thing I picked correctly all Satdy Night......shame it didn't help my bank.
A.Robinson was questioned as to the reasons he continued to drive with vigour and apply the whip to APOCALYPSE DREAMA after the winning post. A. Robinson stated APOCALYPSE DREAMA has a tendency to pull up immediately after the winning post and he was aware there were several horses immediately behind him finishing the race at speed. He stated he was concerned about safety and attempted to get APOCALYPSEDREAMA away from other horses. Stewards advised A. Robinson that it was a technical breach of Rule 156(3)(f) however they accepted it was done for safety reasons. Stewards advised that in similar circumstances in future, he should shift APOCALYPSE DREAMA to the inside of marker pegs after the finish line.
Hope this is ok here Kevin but I thought it was a good read.

Pity the poor owners hoping to win a C0 in the last at Melton this Friday - have a look at who they have to compete with

Wonder will this new racing channel mean that the trots will get a fair go on normal Sky 1 & 2 and not get cut off or crossed to part way through a race? We can but dream.
It sounds like a rebadged TVN to me which involved no extra cost to Foxtel subscribers as it had become part of the basic package, so I am not sure what VL is on about when he says unprecedented.
For us it could be a catch 22 - if we are not intermixed with gallops I fear we have zero chance of growing.
Toni, I suspect they will still do it the TVN way in that you will see the main gallops on both Sky 1 and Sky Racing World
We are always going to be intermixed with the dogs - *%#@ I hate the dogs
Anybody know where Mr Wick is in terms of resuming?
The title says it all
The instructions would appear to have been - don't give him a hard run
Watch it and see what you think of the drive on the odds on fav
He would have had a harder run at the trials.. Pathetic!
I'm with Evan Kev, Learnt nothing from that and he appeared to be paddling.
I am not convinced he is in great form but they were never going to find out tonight
If you missed it - easily done as they shafted it to Sky 2, have a look

I notice that the run was queried
Apologies for so many posts today people
I banned myself from playing poker today (after flopping a flush twice yesterday and being beaten both times)
I don't know guys. He has forever and always been held up for one run at them. Can't make ground in 26.6.
What are your thoughts on scheduling of victoria cup, hunter cup, and interdominion heats in consecutive weeks?
Good for the viewer/punter but I'd be PEEEEED off if I was an owner/trainer of one of the stars.
Your question Dean.....what are your thoughts?
Bit different this year I guess with the Interdom following so closely behind but in future I reckon a great idea. Showcases harness racing for a whole week in Vic. Got the APG sale in between as well.
Interstate and NZ visitors can come for a week and not just a weekend x 2. Tipping it's gets pretty costly to make 2 trips for the 2 races. People come for one or the other. Not just for spectators but for participants in the 2 races as well. This way get the best going around in both races and make it like a week long 'carnival'.
Worth giving it a try I reckon.
A positive from Mt Gambier on Friday night there was a incident turning out of the home straight with a lap to Go a young driver called Jim Barker was tossed out of his cart but instead of hitting the track he jumped into the sulky beside just as well as the ground is getting to hard for greats of our sports to be landing on to

Fair effort by fav Beachstar in the 5th at Mildura tonight considering the fast last half and the ground he lost when he galloped in the back straight

Chris Barsby sure makes some grand claims.... Wouldn't be biased at all now, would he?
The last Australian trained pacer to win the Hunter Cup was Blacks A Fake, the greatest pacer of all time. Wouldn't have hurt to write, 'one of the'...
Right on Rich! Barsby grossly over exaggerated!
Agreed Rich. I understand that Blacky is Barsby's fav horse, as Trigger was to me, but the greatest of all time is disrespectful to the other Champs & Legends.
For some reason I just picture you two at the pub ;)
The asbestos team are more or less fully united - owner and driver, in winning the last at Geelong tonight

Who wants this?!
Not for me thanks. They have 1000 mt races at Menangle and put up mile rates that are a joke. I'd rather watch a monte race.
mile rate???
