Two words, lovely chestnut trained by Bill Davies. Well bred too, by Sun Chief from Joy Oro. Same maternal family as Bag Limit, etc.

I have some doubts myself. A tedious wading through old racebooks awaits.

We cannot be the only ones with doubts because the wonderful Simon of ClassicFamilies had to sort it for me as the first time I searched for Ronmac it suggested Ron Mac but it would not open because I figured it had been entered as Ronmac in the db. I don't know whether I was being influenced by the Year Books but I felt it was one word but I could be confusing him with Romberg or any number of horses

I just checked the 1977 Year Book (he was 8 years old in that) and he is RON MAC - two words!

I guess this proves that half a century can play tricks with your mind.

Not really, as in every Year Book up until then, he was one word

There you go, I don't have any pre-1977 year books. It looks like more than a two-can search of old race books.

I wish I had kept race books but they would have all gone up in smoke in 2009 anyway
I bought a single 1970 Showgrounds one on ebay - it has some great ones in it
