Exclamation The Locomotive - Elitloppet 2025

    https://www.tab.com.au/racing/2025-05-25/SOLVALLA/H/H/7

Just tried to copy and paste this to see if it can be replayed, what did people think of The Locomotive's effort in Sweden?

He went ok , he made up ground . Do not know times or anything , so that makes it hard to see how the last 1/4 was run but they looked to be running the whole way .

Yes, we need to know what the last Q was run in but on face value he did very little
In Australian timing the winner of the heat rated 1.52.8
The vision is better on youtube.
The Locomotive is number seven (in blue and gold) and settles last on the outside

The winner of this heat was magnificent in running 2nd in the final
The winner of the final came from the other/1st heat which was run 2 seconds faster

This Canadian link is where I got it all from

Oh , 1.52.8 is not that fast at all . God knows where you find that last 1/4 .
But what an experience for them .

    Thanks Kev,
I'm no expert on kilometre rates but pretty sure the mile rate was touch below 1.50, the race tactics are very similar to here rather than North American "go as fast as you can for as long as you can" ( over simplified I know, but it's VERY different to here).

In the final I think the winner beat the last couple of horses by about 2 seconds, he really gapped them in the last 200 metres.

I will endeavour to get more info on times and break them into sectional if there is any relevant data I can find.

The standardbredcanada link lists the MR's as

    Heat 1 - 1.50.8
    Heat 2 - 1.52.8
    Final - 1.50.2

(Assuming the Canadians are like the Americans with 1.50.4 really being 1.50.8 - I have written all the above the Australian way)

Hewitt said they ran their last 1/4 in 26+ , so to make up any ground was a great run .
Just a pity he did not go 3 fence when he had the chance , just after the start . But that's racing .

I agree Trish, but that is racing, you need to make a decision often in less than a heartbeat and as we say " you have either pulled the right rein or the wrong rein". The way the race was run was definitely not up his alley but I do believe if Brad goes 3 the fence in those early stages he probably qualifies for the final.

    Thems the breaks!
